LINK

Local Information Network of Knowledge (aka LINK) is committed to protecting the privacy and information of our members/users. This Privacy Policy describes how we gather, use and protect the information supplied by those who sign up for memberships and share information on the website. We never sell any private, non-public information to third-party organizations. Please read through it carefully and reach out to the LINK team at Link@TripepiSmith.com if you have any questions.

Website

Our website automatically gathers and stores certain information for all visitors. Most of this information does not identify you personally. Rather, we use this information to help us make our website more useful to visitors, learn about the number of visitors and understand the types of technology our visitors use. If you are logged into this website, information you enter and features you use may be tracked by the website to ensure a good user experience and to provide proper documentation of who provided content to the website.

LINK has built its platform on a third-party platform called Invision Community. That platform has additional details on Cookie information it collects and that information can be found here: LINK Cookie Policy.

If not logged into the website, only the following information about your visit is automatically collected and stored:

  • The Internet domain (for example, “youragency.gov” if you connect from a government domain, “yourschool.edu” if you connect from a university’s domain, or “xcompany.com” if you use a private Internet access account) and IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web) from which you access our website;
  • The type of browser and operating system used to access our website;
  • The date and time you access our website;
  • The pages you visit; and
  • If you linked to our Web site from another website, the address of that website.

The logs may be preserved indefinitely, and they may be used to prevent security breaches and to ensure the integrity of the data on our servers.

We accomplish this with Google Analytics, the standard tool for website metrics that is used by a large portion of websites you visit on the Internet.

Registration and Authentication

If you sign up for a membership, LINK may collect your name, agency name, position and email address. We collect this data to help manage the site, prevent spam, fraud and abuse and communicate with you as a user. This information is stored in the backend of the website powered by Invision Community

If you choose to opt-in for email notifications on various forums or groups, an automated email will be sent to the email address listed. If you no longer wish to receive further emails from LINK, you can simply unfollow your selected topics or adjust your notifications within the website platform.

Your employment-related information ensures that you are a verified and permitted user based on our Terms and Conditions. You can also choose to display this information on your Member Profile, which helps others in the network identify you and your background.

Billing Information

If you subscribe to a paid membership with LINK, we collect your basic billing information, including choice of payment, postal address, email address and telephone number. This information is only used for billing purposes and monetary transactions only. No information provided by you is shared. The Website Owner relies on third-party payment providers to handle transactions and you should review the privacy policies and terms of service of those payment providers.

Analytics

LINK uses Google Analytics to track user behavior on our website through cookies, a temporary code our server places in your computer to store information that facilitates communication. Data includes, but may not be limited to, details on browsers, devices, city, state, country, gender, interests and age. We do not and cannot use cookies to retrieve personal information about you from your computer unless such information was knowingly and willingly provided by you. You can adjust your browser settings to decline any cookies if you wish. However, doing so may slow the response time when you visit our site. You can also opt-out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

ReMarketing Campaigns

LINK will run advertising campaigns from time to time that use standard targeting concepts to display our ads with internet users. Targeting criteria are provided by the advertising platform (Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X as some examples) we are using to display or implement our advertising campaign. To further enhance our efforts, we may use a Google Remarketing Campaign or similar advertising tools which essentially drops a cookie on your browser so that we can continue to identify you with LINK,Tripepi Smith or other advertising through the Google Ads Display Network or other networks of our choosing.

User Database Management

The platform tracks all user activity publicly through the Activity page. This includes all activity, including new registrations, follows, posts, comments, personal profile changes, reactions and clubs on the website and within groups. Users do not have the ability to make their activity private.
